Lunar New Year Lunch

Posted: February 5, 2012 in Events

Although the traditional half-day off-in-lieu of Lunar New Year was not in effect this year, staff were emotionally compensated with a lunch treat at Beng Hiang Restaurant. Located along Amoy Street, the restaurant was within walking distance from the office.

You never know how huge the tax service line is until you see the crowd in the restaurant. I guess there were easily 30 tables booked for our use. There were so many people and ongoing chatter that you tried your best to hear and be heard.

The Hokkien cuisine served was fantastic. The dishes may be similar to those served at traditional wedding dinners but this restaurant’s food standards beat some of the higher tier hotels in Singapore. It was that good.

The eight course meal comprised the prosperity toss, fish maw soup, roasted chicken, steamed garoupa, steamed prawns, stewed vegetables, five spices pork rolls (ngoh hiong), stewed pork with buns and yam paste. This restaurant is well known for its ngoh hiong. It truly was delectable – a must try!

Since it was a rare chance for such treats to be offered, everyone’s lunch break was unofficially extended by another hour. Haha..

Such surprises from the company lifted the spirits of its staff. We reckoned it “an opportunity pursuit” by the company. Making us happy translates to higher productivity and revenues :) Thank you bosses!
